Information Architecture
Project Overview
This was part of my mentorship program with the Linux foundation.I assessed the IA of the Update Frameworks project website to ensure they met CNCF standards.
I also redesigned the website into a new accessible hugo theme to ensure ease of onboarding process
Problem Space & Business Needs
- There was repeated information throughout the documentation.
- There was no new contributor information making onboarding harder for new contributors.
- The website did not have a search function making it difficult for users to find information.
- The overall look of the website was upto CNCF standards.
My Role & Deliverables
- I identified 25+ vulnerabilities on the website and presented to the team for brainstorming.
- Assisted in the selection of a better Hugo theme that addressed the concerns in the assessment report.
- Assisted in the migration and publication of the website under the new theme.
- Added accessibility features on the website such as captions on photos and videos and also suggested rewrote
sections to include accessible language.
Outcomes & Business Impact
- A new website with an accessible and efficient theme that can be used by people of all abilities.
- Categorized content using Diataxis making onboarding content accessible to new users.
- Users can now search for content on the website.
